The General Directorate of Ports and Auxiliary Maritime Industries of the Panama Maritime Authority through Circular DGPIMA-019-DECCP-2024, understanding the global trend in the use of alternative fuels with the primary objective of reducing pollution in the maritime and port sector, announces that vessels powered by these types of clean fuels, in accordance with the provisions of the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-Flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code), will be able to operate in port terminals and waters under the jurisdiction of the Panama Maritime Authority.
Shipping agents for these vessels must upload the “International Certificate of Fitness for the Carriage of Liquefied Gases in Bulk” in the Panama Maritime Single Window (VUMPA) system.
Similarly, shipping agents must notify port operators about the arrival of vessels powered by clean fuels at their docks, as well as the Port Operations Department of this Directorate, at the following email address: dop@amp.gob.pa.
