PANAMA CANAL FUNDING REQUIREMENTS UPDATE
Following confirmation from the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), it has been established that the previously considered adjustments to the funding timelines will not be implemented.
Accordingly, the funding requirements remain as set out in Advisory to Shipping A-10-2016, under which customers are encouraged to ensure that bank guarantees or sufficient funds are in place at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to vessel’s transit.
For clarity:
- Standard Transits: Funding continues to follow the existing requirement of availability no later than 48 hours prior to vessel arrival, in line with Advisory A-10-2016.
- Auction Bookings: The previously considered 2-hour post-allocation funding requirement will not apply, as the booking system closes forty-eight (48) hours prior to transit, meaning no bookings are accepted beyond this cut-off. As such, funding is fully governed by the standard 48-hour requirement.
Customers are encouraged to ensure that all required funds are remitted to Norton Lilly International with sufficient lead time to guarantee compliance with the ACP’s 48-hour requirement, avoiding any disruption in the transit schedule.
