Panama Canal incident in Pacific entrance channel

PANAMA FLASH! – January 30th, 2023

RE: Panama Canal incident in Pacific entrance channel.

The Panama Canal Authority informed that today AM, Full container vessel Cape Kortia reported an outbreak of fire in the Engine room while transiting in the Pacific entrance of the Canal towards PSA Terminal.  

The Panama Canal fire department was able to control the situation and the vessel was shifted to PSA Terminal clearing the channel.

No delays in transiting vessels were experienced, only the Harbour movement at Balboa were affected.
