Since May 9th, disturbances in Colon City, Panama has blocked and paralyzed completely main artery road’s between Panama City and Colon City.
PANAMA FLASH! Panama City –May 11th, 2022
A civilian demonstration erupted Monday, May 9th in Colon City – Panama (Atlantic side), blocking and paralyzing completely the Alberto Motta Toll Highway and the Boyd Roosevelt Public Highway. These two highways are the only two main artery road’s that connect Panama City with Colon City. The labor action is to demand that the government addresses their local needs, including creating jobs and investing more in the province’s infrastructure
The protesters gathered in several areas across the highways and main road impeding all type of public, private, passengers and cargo transportation mobilization to and from Colon City.
At this time Panama Canal transits have not been adversely impacted. We, as agents, have been able to conduct all the vessels activities and owners biz without delays.
ISPS Security level 2:
Due to the demonstrations the Panama Maritime Authority have declared all the Atlantic Terminals in ISPS Security Level 2.
