PANAMA FLASH!– Lane Outage at Pedro Miguel Locks

Beginning at 0001 hours on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, until 2359 hours on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 (8 days), the West Lane of Pedro Miguel Locks will be out of service for scheduled maintenance.
As a result, and in accordance with the rules governing the Transit Reservation System (OP NOTICE TO SHIPPING No. N-7-2023), Condition 2 for the Panamax locks will be in effect from Tuesday, May 9, 2023, until Tuesday May 16, 2023.
Applications for reserved transit slots while Condition 2 is in effect will be received beginning at 0900 hours on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The Just-In-Time (JIT) transit slots available for supers will be reduced to one per direction while Condition 2 is in effect, whereas the JIT slots for regular vessels transiting without restrictions will remain at one per direction.
The daily auction slot for Supers will be reduced to one (1) and the daily auction slot for Regulars will be suspended during this period. The daily booking slots offered to Neopanamax vessels will remain unchanged.
Due to the maintenance the canal capacity will be reduced and demand for transit booking, as customary, will exceed the slots available. The Transit Reservation System (booking) for the Panamax locks has been declared in condition 2 which for practical purpose means that no slot will be offered for Supers when the 3rd period opens.
