PANAMA FLASH! – Temporary change in the auction system for Panamax locks
Panama City – July 19th, 2023
The Panama Canal Authority announced that due to the increase in the waiting times for non-booked vessels in the Panamax locks, and based on the projected arrivals for the following days, the ACP is taking the following measures:
(1) Suspend the auctioned slot for regular vessels for July 21-23, 2023.
(2) Suspend the second auction for supers for July 21-23, 2023.
The ACP will continue to monitor the waiting times, the level of Gatun lake, and vessel arrivals, and may implement additional measures to mitigate the current situation in the near future.
