PANAMA FLASH! – Scheduled Lane Outage at Gatun Locks
Panama City – Aug. 24th, 2022
The Panama Canal Authority informed via Advisory to shipping ADV-28-2022 a lane outage for maintenance beginning at 0001 hours on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, until 2359 hours on Wednesday, September 7th, 2022 (9 days), at the West lane of Gatun Locks.
As a result, and in accordance with the rules governing the Transit Reservation System (OP Notice to Shipping No. N-7-2022), Condition 2 for the Panamax locks will be in effect from Tuesday, Aug. 30th, 2022, through Wednesday, Sept. 07th, 2022.
Applications for reserved transits while Condition 2 is in effect will be received beginning at 0900 hours on August 27th, 2022. The Just-In-Time (JIT) transit slots available for supers will be reduced to one for each direction while Condition 2 is in effect, whereas the JIT slots for regular vessels transiting without restrictions will remain at one for each direction. The booking slots available through the auction process will continue to be offered during this period.
The slots offered to Neopanamax vessels will remain unchanged.
